Karma Vista Vineyards - Reflections

BODHISATTVA, WON'T YOU TAKE ME BY THE HAND

KARMA:  the great things that happen from the little things you do;  the echo of the

                         vibrations you create.

VISTA:  view from a distance;  horizon;  perspective;  vision.

People come into the winery and ask, "Why Karma?"  "Why Vista"?  "Why are the
vineyards planted north and south?  "How long does it take to grow grapes?"  "What's in
this Riesling?"  "Why is the sky blue?"  "Where do babies come from?"  "What is the
        meaning of life?"

To which we often respond, "You ask far too many questions.  Relax grasshopper, and
enjoy the moment."   There is a zen saying, "If you want to know all the answers, ignore
all the questions."  At least I think it's a zen saying.  If not, it should be.

So who are we at Karma Vista, and what makes us different?  We are Joe and Sue
Herman, and we represent the latest in 150 years and six generations of Hermans who
have grown fruit in and around these hills in southwest Michigan.  As a rule, most new
wineries are started by millionaires who don't know anything about grape growing but
figure, "How hard can it be to learn?"  We, on the other hand, are grape growers who
know nothing about being millionaires but figure, "Hey, how hard can it be to learn?"  No
        difference.

Sometimes it is easier to describe yourself in terms of what you are not.  At Karma Vista
        we are not....

far from Chicago...about 90 minutes with a good tail wind.

in California...although many have said they feel like they are when
                                   they walk in.

wine snobs...we have only two rules - enjoy the moment,
                                   enjoy the wine.
in France...although many have said they feel like they are
                                   when they walk in.
the greatest winery since prohibition...alright, maybe no one has
said we are, but we're still very young.
